K of C Sabres at Sherwood Park Saints

The Saints kick off the playoffs with another game against KC702. This is the third meeting between these teams in the last three weeks. The Saints won the previous two regular season games 9-4 ands 3-2. A win will put the Saints in a good position to do well in the playoff schedule. KC has upped their game and is playing very well of late. They just beat Sturgeon last week to advance to this game against the Saints. The Saints will be without half of their regular defensemen for this matchup.

This game came down to the penalty parade in the second period as the Saints took five-straight minors to kill any potential momentum after their 2-1 lead after one period.

After going down 1-0 early in the opening frame, the Saints scored two in a row from Dominic Amyotte-Lorenson and Connor Cyca. Shots were 17-13 Sabres at that point.

The Sabres scored two in the second to take the lead. Shots in the second were 14-10 for the Sabres.

The Sabres had a fourth goal called back in the third on a high stick call on the deflection. The Saints battled back in the third to get within one, but the Sabres iced it with an empty-net goal. Shots were 43-35 Sabres.

The Saints next face Leduc on Monday night at 8 p.m. at Castledowns Arena A.
